3D printer warranties by brand: length, coverage and claims

Sovol warranty: how long it lasts, what it covers and how to claim

Sovol covers its 3D printers, the SV06, SV07 and SV08 included, for 1 year from the day you receive them, with 3 months on the extruder unit and no cover on nozzles or print plates. This page summarizes Sovol's published warranty policy as of October 2026.

Everything below comes from Sovol’s Returns & Refund & Warranty Policy as published on October 23, 2026. That page carries no date, so check the current version before you file. This is not legal advice.

How long is the Sovol warranty?

The Sovol warranty lasts 1 year on its 3D printers, counted from the date you receive the printer, not the order date. Sovol gives the extruder unit 3 months and accessories 1 month. Print plates and nozzles count as consumables and get no warranty, except a plate that was already defective at delivery.

Part Sovol warranty
3D printer 1 year
Extruder unit 3 months
Accessories 1 month
Nozzles and print plates None (consumables)

Sovol’s filament dryers get the same 1 year as its printers. The policy does not define “extruder unit” or “accessories”, and Sovol’s store sells spare parts under an Accessories menu. Nor does the policy list the hotend, mainboard, screen or motors on their own.

Sovol publishes one set of terms for every region, and the policy “in no way affects a potential statutory warranty provided by law”. In the EU, that leaves the seller’s 2-year legal guarantee in place.

After the year runs out, Sovol’s “Lifetime Customer Support” still covers technical help and software updates. The policy does not say it includes parts.

Do the SV06, SV07 and SV08 carry the standard warranty?

Yes. The policy sets one period for all Sovol 3D printers and names no model, and the SV08’s product page states no separate term. Every SV06, SV07 and SV08 version gets 1 year, with 3 months on the extruder unit. That includes the Plus, ACE and Max models.

A refurbished Sovol printer comes with a “1-year warranty and lifetime tech support” but cannot be returned or refunded. A used one, which Sovol sells as a machine returned by an Amazon customer, gets nothing: “This means there is no warranty on these machines.”

Sovol sells the SV08 with “fully open-source software, firmware, and hardware” and invites owners to “customize and upgrade” it. The warranty makes no exception for that. One eligibility condition reads: “The printer wasn’t modified. (Including using the parts or firmware from the third party.)” What US law says about such clauses is covered in Does upgrading a 3D printer void the warranty?.

What does the Sovol warranty not cover?

The policy excludes:

  • products without sufficient proof of purchase
  • lost or stolen products
  • items past their warranty period
  • non-quality issues more than 14 days after purchase
  • free products
  • damage from outside sources or from misuse
  • faults caused by incorrect operation or user error
  • modified printers, third-party parts or firmware included
  • wear from long use, unless a material or manufacturing defect caused the failure
  • cosmetic damage

It also warns that “improper packaging may void the warranty and incur charges”, so keep the original box.

How to make a Sovol warranty claim

Email Sovol with your order details and photos or video of the fault. A support engineer first tries to fix it by email or remote assistance, and nothing ships back until Sovol approves a return or replacement.

  1. Collect the evidence. Gather the order number, the invoice or an order screenshot, the printer model, a short description of the fault, and clear photos or video of it.
  2. Email the right address. For an order from sovol3d.com, write to [email protected] or use the contact form. An Amazon order goes to the address for its marketplace (see the list at the end of this page). Sovol says it replies within 24 hours, and its support hours are 9:00 pm to 6:00 am EST. If nothing arrives within 48 hours, check your spam folder.
  3. Work through the diagnosis. Follow the engineer’s troubleshooting steps and send any extra photos or video they ask for.
  4. Ship back only when approved. If Sovol agrees to a replacement, send the product within 15 days in its original packaging, or Sovol treats the replacement as waived. Returns made outside the approved process are at your cost.

If Sovol refuses a claim, ask which condition it applied and answer that point: the receipt for a proof-of-purchase refusal, photos of the stock parts and firmware for a modification refusal.

Who pays shipping on a Sovol warranty claim?

Sovol does, for a quality fault: it “will cover the return shipping costs for product quality issues during the warranty period.” You pay for a return that is not a proven defect, for an item Sovol’s quality control finds working, and for transit damage caused by poor packing.

Will Sovol replace the printer or send parts?

Sovol replaces a product within 30 days of delivery if it arrived significantly damaged (with the carrier’s proof) or is the wrong item. The same 30 days cover a serious fault or manufacturing defect. For missing or damaged parts, it sends replacement parts first. After 30 days, the policy speaks only of a repair request diagnosed by email or remote assistance and promises no replacement printer.

Separately, within 14 days of purchase, an undamaged product can be returned for a full refund for any reason.

Do you need to register a Sovol printer?

No. Sovol has no registration step. A claim needs “a valid purchase receipt, document and order number”. The policy does not mention second owners, so if you buy a Sovol secondhand, ask the seller for the original receipt.

Does the Sovol warranty cover Amazon orders?

The policy does not say. It calls itself the limited warranty “provided by sovol3d.com”, but Sovol’s contact page sends Amazon buyers to separate support addresses:
