Is Bambu Lab's cloud down? How to check and keep printing
Bambu Lab posts cloud outages on status.bambulab.com, with cloud printing, remote control, live view and MakerWorld listed separately. An outage stops Bambu Handy and cloud printing, not the printer: a running print carries on, and a memory card or LAN Only mode starts new jobs.

Check status.bambulab.com, Bambu Lab’s official status page. If Cloud printing is down, you can still print. Start a sliced file from the printer’s microSD card or USB drive, or turn on LAN Only mode and send the job from Bambu Studio over your own network.
Facts below are as of November 7, 2026, from Bambu Lab’s status page, wiki, blog and Bambu Studio release notes. Bambu Studio’s behavior changes between versions, so the version is given where it matters.
How do you check if Bambu Lab’s cloud is down?
Open status.bambulab.com, Bambu Lab’s official status page. It lists Cloud printing, Remote controlling, Live view and Binding under Printer Services. Bambu Accounts, MakerWorld and Bambu Lab’s websites get their own lines. If a component is not marked Operational, or an incident is posted, the problem is on Bambu Lab’s side rather than your network.
- Get notified. The page’s Subscribe to Updates button takes an email address or a webhook, and the incident history has an RSS feed at status.bambulab.com/history.rss.
- China region. Bambu Lab’s China service has its own page, status.bambulab.cn.
- Regional outages. Several 2026 incidents hit only parts of Europe (May 10 and July 2) or Europe and South Africa (May 19). The July 2 notice said “users in unaffected regions and on other ISPs are able to access the service normally.”
If the page says All Systems Operational and your printer still will not connect, look at your own network or router first. Work through why a Bambu Lab printer shows offline.
When the Bambu Lab cloud is slow
Bambu Lab also posts slowdowns as incidents. Its notice for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) disruption of July 24, 2026 warned of “slow loading, timeouts, or errors”. The September 27, 2026 notice reported “intermittent timeouts for printing”. Before you resend a job that stalls in Bambu Studio, check the status page.
What do “Cloud access failed” and “Cloud response is invalid” mean?
Both are printer error messages. Bambu Lab says error codes “are forced to be shown on the main page of the printer screen”, and its error code list gives a short cause and fix for each:
| Message on the printer | Error codes | What Bambu Lab says |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud access failed | 0500-401A, 0500-401D, 0500-4021, 0500-4024, 0500-4027, and the same codes starting 0501 | Network instability from wireless interference. For 401A and 4024 Bambu Lab adds “inability to access the internet, or router firewall configuration restrictions.” Move the printer closer to the router or check the router configuration, then try again. |
| Cloud access is rejected | 0500-401C, 0500-4020, 0500-4023, 0500-4026, 0500-4029, and the 0501 equivalents | Try again; if it keeps failing, contact customer service. |
| Cloud response is invalid | 0500-401B, 0500-401E, 0500-4022, 0500-4025, 0500-4028, and the 0501 equivalents | Try again; if it keeps failing, contact customer service. |
Bambu Lab gives no further cause for “Cloud response is invalid”. Before contacting support, check status.bambulab.com. If an incident is open, print locally until it clears.
Can you still print when Bambu Lab’s cloud is down?
Yes. A cloud outage stops jobs sent through Bambu Lab’s servers, not the printer. Print a sliced file from a microSD card or USB drive on the printer’s screen, send it to the printer’s card over your local network with Bambu Studio’s Send option, or switch the printer to LAN Only mode and print from Bambu Studio.
How to print from a memory card or USB drive
X1, P1 and A1 series printers take a microSD card. H series printers, the P2S and the X2D take a USB flash drive. Bambu Lab’s FAQ says printing from the card “bypasses the cloud server”.
- Export the sliced file. In Bambu Studio, slice the plate, click the arrow next to Print plate and choose Export plate sliced file.
- Save it to the root of the card or drive. Bambu Lab’s P1 guide says not to save it inside any of the folders already on the card. On P1 printers, eject the card first: Settings, then SD Card, then Eject.
- Start the print on the printer. Insert the card and open the printer’s file list: Home, then Print Files, then SD Card on the X1; the folder icon on the P1. Select the file.
The LAN-only mode guide covers the P1 series card print step by step, including the options a card print cannot change.
Other ways to print without the cloud
- Bambu Studio’s Send option. Click the arrow next to Print plate and choose Send, then start the file from the printer’s screen. Bambu Lab’s P1 guide calls this the way to “send the file to the SD card over the LAN and initiate a print job from the printer screen.”
- LAN Only mode. Turn on LAN Only on the printer and note the access code. Pick the printer (shown with a lock icon) on Bambu Studio’s Device page and enter the code; the LAN-only mode guide has the steps for each printer series. Turn LAN Only off when the cloud is back if you use Bambu Handy.
- Bambu Studio’s automatic fallback. From version 02.08.02.60 (August 14, 2026), “when the cloud service is abnormal or the network is unstable, the software will automatically try switching to LAN mode to continue sending the print.” The status line then reads “Cloud service sending failed. Sending print job over LAN without print history.”
LAN Only mode has two catches. Bambu Studio’s network plug-in “requires Internet connection” to install, so it must be installed before the outage. X1 series printers also need a microSD card inserted to start a print sent this way. If Studio refuses the connection, see LAN mode not working.
The automatic fallback is conditional. In Bambu Studio’s source, it runs only when Studio knows the printer’s IP address, the printer has storage to print from, and the printer is idle or its last job has finished or failed.
Send a cloud job once, then switch to a local method. Bambu Lab’s account of its August 15, 2023 outage says repeated sends, “including some manual resends by confused users”, jammed in the cloud. The jammed jobs went out once the cloud reconnected, and “some printers that were on during the affected period unexpectedly started a print job without user intervention.” Bambu Lab later blamed part of the overload on Bambu Studio’s instant retries and said printers would check each cloud job’s timestamp and discard outdated ones.
What keeps working on a Bambu Lab printer during a cloud outage?
Everything that runs on the printer or your local network: a print already in progress, printing from a microSD card or USB drive, LAN Only mode printing and camera view in Bambu Studio, and slicing. What stops is anything routed through Bambu Lab’s servers: Bambu Handy, cloud printing, remote control and live view, binding and print history.
A print that has already started keeps going, because the printer holds the file. In the default mode, Bambu Lab’s remote control guide says the print file “will be transferred to the cloud server to make the printer download from the remote”. Bambu Lab’s report on the August 2023 outage describes jobs that were “successfully completed on the printer” while its cloud was down.
| Feature | During a cloud outage | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bambu Handy app | Stops | Bambu Lab says Handy “must use the Internet to connect to the printer”; the local network is used only to discover it. |
| Binding a printer to an account | Stops | Binding is a cloud service on the status page. |
| Cloud printing from Bambu Studio | Stops | In the default mode the file goes through Bambu Lab’s cloud. Bambu Studio 02.08.02.60 and later try LAN instead. |
| LAN Only mode printing, monitoring and camera | Works | Bambu Lab says LAN mode sends files and monitors “without requiring internet access”. Turn on LAN Only Liveview for the camera. |
| MakerWorld Print Now in Bambu Handy | Stops | It goes through Bambu Handy and MakerWorld’s cloud slicing. |
| Print already running | Keeps going | The printer downloaded the file before starting. |
| Print history and reprints | Stops | Print history is a cloud feature and is not available in LAN mode either. |
| Printing from microSD card or USB drive | Works | Card printing “bypasses the cloud server”. |
| Remote control and live view through the cloud | Stops | Remote controlling and Live view are cloud services on the status page. |
| Slicing in Bambu Studio | Works | Logging in is “optional, but strongly recommended” in Bambu Lab’s quick start guide. |
| Spaghetti detection on X1 series printers | Works | Bambu Lab says “all the data processing is done locally”. It relies on the detection data in the installed firmware. |
MakerWorld has its own line on the status page and can fail alone. On September 11, 2026, Bambu Lab reported model loading errors on MakerWorld in web browsers, while “access via Handy remained normal”. When the cloud is down but MakerWorld is up, download the model, slice it in Bambu Studio and print it from a card or in LAN Only mode.
If outages keep interrupting your printing, compare LAN Only mode and cloud mode before switching for good.
